Mrs. McDaniel earned her degrees from Peabody Conservatory of Music and Ithaca College.  She has been teaching at Guilford since 1994.  Mrs. McDaniel is in charge of teaching the instrumental music classes, band and orchestra.  She studied clarinet with Baltimore Symphony players: Chris Wolfe (1983-87) Steve Barta (1987-1991) Ed Palanker (coachings).  She also studied with Sidney Forrest (1991-2008) Michal Galvan (1999-2001). 

During weeknights and weekends, Charlene McDaniel can be found performing at Toby's dinner theater or with the Magical Mystery Girls (A Beatles tribute band). She has performed as a clarinetist and saxophonist with different orchestras in the local Baltimore/Washington Area, including  Prince Georges Philharmonic, Londontowne Symphony (MD), Loudoun Symphony (VA), and Metropolitan Orchestra at Montgomery College, Rockville.  She also performs in chamber groups and gives private lessons to aspiring young clarinets in her home music studio.
